Russian MP: Iran Parliament move a response to US
Moscow, Aug 15, A Russian Member of Parliament criticized the US provocative measures against Iran, affirming that Iran's Parliament recent move is a response to Washington's approach.
Deputy chairman of the Russian lower house of parliament's defense committee Yury Shvytkin told Sputnik that US should adopt an approach to make constructive ties instead of escalation of ties.
The US should not provoke other states to rise tensions, he added.
The Iranian legislation, which was ratified in the Parliament (Majlis) by 240 yes votes on Sunday, is in retaliation for the US Senate bill known as Countering Iran's Destabilizing Activities Act, which includes anti-Iran non-nuclear sanctions.
According to the Iranian legislation, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Defense, Intelligence, as well as the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Quds Force, and the Islamic Republic Army are obliged to devise a comprehensive strategic plan to counter US threats and bullies in the region.
Washington has not yet accepted the reality that the time of unipolar world and imposing demands on other countries is over, the Russian lawmaker said.
