Short film ‘Darkness’ nominated for Toronto Festival

Tehran, Short film 'Darkness' directed by Saeed Jafarian and produced by Rambod Javan was selected for the competition section of the 42nd International Toronto Film Festival.

This is the film's second international presence, as it was earlier screened in the competition section of the 2018 Cannes Short film Festival, a prestigious international event in the field.

The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is one of the largest publicly attended film festivals in the world, attracting over 480,000 people annually.

Since its founding in 1976, TIFF has grown to become a year-round destination for film culture operating out of the TIFF Bell Lightbox, a dynamic center for film culture located in downtown Toronto.

Presence in the competition section of the two A grade international festivals is a rare event in the history of the Iranian cinema.

Ali Asgari is the only Iranian filmmaker that has earlier managed to attend the competition section of Cannes and Sundance film festivals with his film 'More Than Two Hours'.

TIFF will be held in Toronto, Canada, from September 6-16.
