Sri Lanka lauds Iran progress in various fields
Tehran, Minister of science, technology and research of Sri Lanka on Tuesday lauded Iran's progress in various fields, in particular, science and technology.
In spite of all difficulties and sanctions, Iran has made a good progress, Sujeewa Senasinghe said.
He made the remarks in the opening ceremony of Asia Pacific Innovation Forum (APIF).
Iran's achievements in the science and technology fields are surprising and the country has a brilliant future, the Sri Lankan official noted.
He noted that based on a cooperation document signed between Iran and Sri Lanka, the two countries' science ministers will establish a joint commission to promote bilateral cooperation.
Asia Pacific Innovation Forum kicked off in Tehran on Tuesday with 70 participants representing countries and international organizations from around the world.
At the beginning of the opening ceremony, Peyman Salehi, chairman of the first APIF said, "The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) considers science and technology as the main index of sustainable development, and the startups as the building blocks of modern technology and the sustainable development."
