Switzerland to give water purifier to Iran floodhit people
London, Switzerland Foreign Ministry announced on Thursday that it will send two water purifiers with capacity of purifying water for 5,000 people to Iranian floodstricken people.
Swiss Foreign Ministry office for development and cooperation said that the water purifiers weighing one ton will arrive in Iran on Saturday night and will be delivered to the Iranian Red Crescent Society.
Iranian Ambassador to Bern Mohammad Reza Haji Karim Jabbari is scheduled to receive the equipment and the related documents from Swiss Foreign Ministry on Friday.
Unprecedented heavy rains caused floods in various parts of Iran over the past two weeks. Scores of people were killed and 478 others were injured and a large number were displaced across Iran.
The disaster coincided with the high season of Iranians' trips as they were spending the national twoweek holidays of Nowruz.
Earlier, UN Resident Coordinator in Iran Ugochi Daniels promised continuation of giving aids to Iranian government on recent floods in Iranian provinces.
She added 'the UN's role is to support the Government of #Iran and that is what we have been doing from the start of this unfortunate #disaster. Some relief items have been supplied and we will continue to do so. Stay tuned for more information'.
