Syrian Rail Road Connecting Tartus To Jableh Restored

A railway line connecting the coastal cities of Tartus and Jableh in Syria has been restored, Russian state broadcaster RU-RTR said.

The first train to travel the 65 kilometre (40 mile) long railway line, which runs along Syria's coast between the two cities, carried 27 tonnes of "food including flour, sugar, canned meat and fish," the Russian Defence Ministry said in the report. RTR said the train line was restored by Russian engineers working with Syrian colleagues. Russia has a naval facility in Tartus.
