Talks with US not right under current conditions: Iran MP
Tehran, A senior lawmaker at Iran's Parliament said on Tuesday that negotiation with the US will not be helpful under current conditions.
'Talks with the US would have been right had the US not withdrawn from the JCPOA and imposed sanctions on Iran,' Ali Motahhari, Vice Speaker of Iran's Parliament told reporters referring to the nuclear deal Tehran and the major world powers singed in 2015.
Under the nuclear agreement, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Iran agreed to curb its nuclear program in exchange for some economic sanctions relief.
US President Donald Trump pulled out of the deal unilaterally, calling it the worst deal ever.
Washington has re-imposed sanctions on Iran and has urged its allies to halt oil imports from the country by November.
Motahhari said under current conditions holding talks with US bode for nothing but humiliation.
'Negotiation under appropriate and equivalent condition can be helpful, in principlehe.'
The Iranian lawmaker also said it could have been much better to negotiate with Trump's predecessor, Barak Obama.
'But we missed the opportunity,' he said.
