Tehran, Ashgabat to develop strategic ties
Tehran, Head of Iran Presidential Office Mahmoud Vaezi said on Wednesday that Iran and Turkmenistan will promote strategic ties in the economic, political, security and cultural domains.
Vaezi made the remarks in a meeting with Turkmen Foreign Minister Rasit Meredow on Wednesday.
During the meeting both sides called for deepening and facilitating relations.
Vaezi underlined that Iran's main strategy is based on developing relations with the neighbors, saying that Iran and Turkmenistan enjoy historic ties and share strong cultural bonds.
He expressed readiness for promoting bilateral ties in all fields.
Tehran has no limitation for maintaining bilateral cooperation in the energy, customs, technical services, engineering, transportation, transit and maritime fields.
He pointed to common border and cultural commonalities as exceptional advantages for promoting trade and tourism ties between Iran and Turkmenistan.
Meredow, for his part, said Iran has always stood by Turkmenistan, adding that Iran has especial position in Turkmenistan's foreign policy.
Iran will be able to meet Turkmenistan's needs in the sea, railway and road transportation, trade and technical and engineering related services, he added.
Ashgabat considers no limit to development of ties with Tehran on the regional level, he noted.
