Tehran condemns terrorist incident in Kandahar
Tehran, Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi has condemned terrorist attack in Kandahar Province of Afghanistan.
'The terrorist attack in Qandahar Province of Afghanistan, which killed or injured a number of officials and people attending a government meeting, is condemned,' said Qasemi, while voicing sympathy with the Afghan government and nation and the bereaved family of the victims.
He underlined national dialogue and ending hostilities in Afghanistan.
He hoped that on threshold of parliamentary elections in Afghanistan, dialogue, establishment of security and access to peace should be put on agenda of Afghan government and the opposition.
He said the Islamic Republic of Iran supports any initiative that would guarantee interests of the innocent people of Afghanistan.
On October 18 and at a time when less than 48 hours remained to Afghan parliamentary elections, an insider shot at the guards in a meeting, which was held to coordinate the military and security forces in Kandahar for elections in the governorate.
Based on official reports released by Afghan officials, commander of Kandahar police Abdul Raziq Ajkazi and head of the national security in Kandahar Province Mohmin Hossein Kheil were killed and several provincial officials, including Governor General of Kandahar Province Zalmay Wesa, were injured.
