Tehran, Kabul prioritize common borders
Kabul, Iranian Border Guards Commander Brigadier General Qasem Rezaei said boosting the level of interaction and improving common borders administration is a priority for Iran and Afghanistan.
Rezaei heading a delegation arrived in Kabul on Tuesday to review bilateral agreements and promote cross-border interactions.
Despite Afghanistan being a hub for narcotics, Iran is facing smuggling issues at its southeastern borders as compared with northeastern ones, he said.
Rezaei also referred to deploying Iranian border guards in over 500 spots of Iran-Afghanistan common borders, saying improving distribution of Afghan forces at borders to make more efficient border guard coverage is among topics of the current tour.
Rezaei pointed to reducing illegal commutes, facilitating nationals' commute, decreasing narcotics smuggling and facilitating Iran-Afghanistan interactions as outcome of cooperation between two countries.
