Tehran mayor hosts Asia and Pacific news agencies
Tehran, Managing directors and senior managers of 18 Asian and Pacific news agencies attending the Organization of the Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) Summit in Tehran, met with Tehran Mayor Seyed Mohammad Ali Afshani.
Participants at the 43rd Asia-Pacific News Executive Board meeting (OANA) went to Milad Tower on Monday night at the end of their intensive work meetings at the Spinase Palace hotel in Tehran to watch from the 435-meter high tower, a 15-millionth capital's spectacular view.
The guests at this media meeting also had a visit to the Milad Tower' Hall of Fame, where silicon statues of great Iranian personalities such as Kamal al-Molk, Amir Kabir, Takhti, and Mustafa Chamran were exposed.
The Mayor of Tehran expressed his satisfaction over the presence of the Asian media managers, and explained the characteristics of Tehran and its facilities and capacities, and described municipal plans to improve the living conditions of its inhabitants, the environment, intelligent services and capital construction projects.
He expressed hope that OANA member-states, as a regional media organization, will continue to advance their goals, such as breaking the news monopolization, proper dissemination of developments in Iran and their countries, and take steps reflecting the facts of this important region of the world to the world's public opinion.
The 43th meeting of the Executive Board of the Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) was addressed Monday by the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyyed Abbas Salehi and IRNA's managing director Seyyed zia Hashemi, with the participation of senior executives of the news agencies of the Organization, senior news agencies, Iranian newspapers and a number of heads of commissions and representatives of Iran's parliament, IRIB, the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other organizations and institutions hosted by IRNA at the Spinase Palace Hotel in Tehran.
