Tehran OANA summit, totally successful: Lebanese news official
Beirut, Director of Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) described the recent meeting of the Executive Board of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) in Tehran as successful from all aspects including the way it was held.
The September 3 OANA summit was successful from the point of view of the raised questions and the news coverage, Laure Sleiman Saab told Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) in an interview.
Iranian capital city, Tehran, hosted the 43rd meeting of the Executive Board of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) on September 3.
Asked about the prospect of cooperation in OANA, Saab said that a bright future is ahead for the Organization as it is impartial.
She further said that OANA does not interfere in countries' policies and their disputes, and this helps the Organization take step forward.
Referring to the recent OANA summit in Tehran, she said that such meetings help promote relations among the member countries and exchange experiences and viewpoints about different questions.
Talking about a new document of agreement on cooperation signed between NNA and IRNA on the sidelines of Tehran summit, Saab said such deals will widen ties between the members' news agencies to receive the news from the original sources.
OANA was founded in 1961 with the goal of facilitating information dissemination in the region, supported by the United Nations cultural entity, the UNESCO.
Iran, as a long-standing member, was the rotating president from 1997 to 2000.
