Tehran University among world 400 tops
Tehran, According to Academic Ranking of World Universities (Shanghai Ranking), as the only Iranian university, Tehran University has been listed among 400 top universities in the world, an Iranian official said.
Speaking to the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Saturday, Managing Director of Tehran University for Non-Iranian Students affairs Afshin Akhundzade said that like 2017, Tehran University ranked 301 by Shanghai Ranking.
Shanghai Ranking Consultancy is a fully independent organization dedicating to research on higher education intelligence and consultation. It has been the official publisher of the Academic Ranking of World Universities since 2009.
We are determined to attract more foreign students, Akhoundzadeh said.
He added that 1,100 students from 48 countries are studying in Tehran University.
Based on Shanghai 2018 ranking, the Harvard, Stanford and Cambridge universities ranked first to third respectively, Akhundzade said.
According to Shanghai Ranking website, 'other Top 10 universities are MIT, Berkeley, Princeton, Oxford, Columbia, Caltech and Chicago. In Continental Europe, ETH Zurich (19th) continues to be the best ranked university, and University of Copenhagen (29th) takes the second place. Sorbonne University (36th) � a newly created university from a merger between Pierre and Marie Curie University and Paris-Sorbonne University is the third best in this region. The University of Tokyo (22th) and Kyoto University (35th) keep their leading positions in Asia. Tsinghua University (45th) is ranked the third among Asian universities. The University of Melbourne (38th) tops other universities in Oceania.'
