Three Iranian wrestlers as well as four the technical staff members of the team had been denied of US visas on the eve of the tournament.

Mohammad Ebrahim Emami, the spokesman of the Iranian Wrestling Federation, told IRNA that after the follow-up by the federation, the United States granted visas for all the three remaining Iranian wrestlers and they will leave for the US tonight.

He, however, said that the four technical staff members of the team have yet been denied of US visa.

Also speaking last night, Emami had hold US accountable for refusing to issue visas for the Iranian wrestlers, what the country also had done in the previous edition of the tournament.

On the significance of the upcoming competitions in the US and the consequences of the non-presence of Iranian wrestlers in the tournament, he had said that the UWW has already announced the participating countries that non-presence would cause limits for later presence in intercontinental competitions and the next year world championships which serve as qualifying tournaments for Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
