Tourism, important factor in Tehran-Beijing relations: Iran official
Beijing, Tehran and Beijing have many issues for developing cooperation, an important one of which is tourism, representative of Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicraft and Tourism Organization in the Chinese port city of Shanghai said on Saturday.
Iran as a hospitable country has been welcoming the Chinese guests and the two countries have been long-standing friends, Hossein Khalifi told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
Talking of the Silk Road, Khalifi said the ancient route, which connected China to Iran, has also been a tourism road, and two countries have kept the spirit of friendship remaining from the past.
The Silk Road as an ancient network of trade routes has been central to cultural interactions through regions of Asia connecting West and East.
As the Iranian official added, Silk Road is a trade, cultural and tourism route which joins the Iranian and Chinese nations together.
He further called on the Chinese academics and members of cultural societies to get familiar with Iran through proper methods.
About security in Iran, the official said Iran is the most stable and secure country in the Middle East region, and the current regional developments cannot hurt security in the country.
Statistics show that about 120,000 Iranians visited China in 2017, and 95,000 Chinese people traveled to Iran in the same year.
