Tremor jolts northern Iran

Tehran, A mild quake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale hit the city of Shahroud in Iranian northern province of Semnan on Friday.

According to the Seismological Center of the Geophysics Institute of Tehran University, the tremor occurred at 14:27:20 hours local time (09:57:20 GMT) in an area located at 36.06 degrees latitude and 54.82 degrees longitude and at the depth of 10 km underground.

Shahroud is located at east of Semnan Province.

Six earthquakes measuring 4 on the Richter scale shook Shahroud last year.
