Trump comments on Pakistan disappointing: Islamabad
Islamabad, Aug 23, Pakistan terms the new strategy announced by the US President on Afghanistan and Pakistan as 'disappointing', saying the statement by Donald Trump ignores the enormous sacrifices rendered by Pakistan in war against terrorism.
Pakistan Foreign Ministry in a statement said that no country in the world has done more than Pakistan to counter the menace of terrorism.
No country in the world has suffered more than Pakistan from the scourge of terrorism. It is, therefore disappointing that the US policy statement ignores the enormous sacrifices rendered by the Pakistani nation in this effort, said the statement on Wednesday.
Earlier, President Trump, announcing US policy on Afghanistan and South Asia, had said that Pakistan was harboring terrorists.
As a matter of policy, Pakistan does not allow use of its territory against any country, said the statement by Pakistan's foreign ministry.
Soon after the Trump's statement, US Ambassador David Hale in Pakistan met with Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif saying the Secretary of State Rex Tillerson looked forward to meeting the Foreign Minister in the next few days to have an in-depth discussion on new US policy on South Asia.
