Trump’s JCPOA withdrawal, very unwise move: Pakistan MP
Islamabad, A senior member of Pakistani Parliament says that US President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw from Iran nuclear deal known as Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is a very unwise move.
In an interview with IRNA, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Lt. Gen (Retd) Abdul Qayyum said it is very unfortunate that the United States signed a deal, and then left it without any justification.
If they have these standards of morality that you sit with somebody and sign a pact and then you go back, who will trust you, he asked.
He added that this is not the first time Americans are doing this; earlier they had gone out of climate change pact.
This attitude amounts to inviting trouble and this is a very serious thing that they are doing, said the lawmaker.
If they have something in their mind to create problem for Iran, I tell you they will meet the same fate as they have met in Vietnam, noted the Senator.
Lt. Gen (Retd) Abdul Qayyum said, 'We in Pakistan feel that this is a very unwise step on the part of the President of the United States of America.'
The parliamentarian expressing his views said, 'If we want to promote peace in the world and if we believe in the Charter of the United Nations which talks of conflict resolution, we have to really abide by the international rules, if you back out then there is no law.'
If you have selective application of those laws then you cannot get peace in the world, he warned.
He said European countries are doing their best to bring the US back to the deal or keeping the deal alive, but the US is not willing to honor its commitment.
I think that Russia, China and the civilized world must stand up together and condemn these policies of the US which are meant to subdue and intimidate smaller nations, said the Senator.
The politician added that Iranians are abiding the JCPOA and earlier President Obama was satisfied, but Trump wants to play the cards of Zionist regime and their aim is not to bring peace in the world rather their aim is to destroy the Muslim world and penalize all oil and gas producing countries, which is very unfortunate.
