UK foreign sec.: JCPOA still valid despite US exit
Brussels, UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson said here Wednesday that the agreement with Iran was still a valid pact despite the US withdrawal.
Johnson said he and his European partners (German and French) have come to Brussels to show their commitment to the Iran nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
The UK foreign minister said in his opinion despite the US pullout from the deal it was still a valid agreement and for this reason the United Kingdom along with two other European countries will consider offering Iran a package of proposals in order to persuade it to remain in the deal.
On ways of protecting European companies against the US, Johnson said the three European powers along with EU foreign policy chief will try to preserve the legitimate interests of the companies doing business with Iran.
Last Tuesday, US President Donald Trump announced that he was pulling the US out of the JCPOA.
President Rouhani said in reaction to the US move that Tehran will continue its cooperation with the remaining five countries and if it stops serving Iran's interests, it will take decisions accordingly.
