UN, good opportunity to defend JCPOA: Chinese media
Beijing, The official Chinese News Agency says the UN General Assembly meeting is a good opportunity for Iran to defend the nuclear deal known as JCPOA.
In a report, Xinhua pointed to President Rouhani's trip to New York and said in his speech at the UN General Assembly on Tuesday, he can well defend Iran's nuclear deal and discuss it with other parties.
The report went on to say that during a four-day stay in New York and on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting, Rouhani will discuss the issue with the relevant officials, including the Secretary-General of the United Nations.
Meeting a number of political figures, Iranians expatriates living in the United States, as well as holding expert talks are among Presidents Rouhani's plans for the trip.
Meanwhile, the Chinese newspaper, Global Times said the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran has no plan to attend the Security Council meeting in New York and hold talks with US President Donald Trump.
Chinese media have repeatedly lashed out at the United States for failure to comply with the international nuclear agreement known as the JCPOA.
They believe Washington's pulling out of the deal amounts to ignoring other signatories to the deal and has endangered the Middle East.
Xinhua considers Iran nuclear deal an example of successful diplomacy and an important international accord which can be a symbol of international peace efforts to solve other important global issues.
