US proved to be untrustworthy: Iran official
Tehran, The US has proved to be untrustworthy and its call for talk is propaganda, senior Iranian official said on Sunday.
Iran cannot trust the US anymore and President Donald Trump's call for negotiation is propaganda, Head of Iran's Strategic Council on Foreign Relations Kamal Kharazi said referring to the US withdrawal from the nuclear deal, known also as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
He made the remarks in a meeting with French think tankers' officials and staff.
Trump proved that he has no respect for previous US government's agreements as well as the UN Security Council Resolution 2231, the Iranian official added.
He noted that Iran's decision to suspend parts of its commitments is based on the JCPOA articles and the Europeans should show their commitment to the nuclear deal by execution of the Instrument in Support of Trade Exchanges (INSTEX).
No country will negotiate its deterrence power and Iran's ballistic missiles are for deterrence and nonnegotiable, Kharazi said.
Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said on Wednesday that Iran will give a 60day moratorium to the states parties to JCPOA to remedy their breaches and restore Iran's interests enshrined by the international deal.
May 8 marks the first anniversary of the US unilateral withdrawal from the Iran Deal formally known as the JCPOA endorsed by United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231.
