US trying to compensate for its isolation in international level

Tehran, The US is attempting to compensate for its defeats leading to more isolation in international level, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi said.

Answering a question on the US Treasury Department attempts to influence the FATF meeting and the importance of its independence, Qasemi said, 'We hope for the FATF and other international bodies be independent and be able to adopt necessary decisions under no foreign pressure.'

The US behavior, especially after the UNGA and the UNSC meetings and also the ICJ voting, shows that they seem to be more fixed in their approach toward Iran, he said.

'We are acquainted with the US behavior and it is not something new,' he said, adding, 'I am sure the US will be loser in this game.'

Elsewhere in his remarks, Qasemi said Iran has received written document on the US withdrawal from the Treaty of Amity.

It will take at least one year for the US walkaway from Treaty of Amity to be in effect, he said.

'We have taken measures inside the country and will do necessary action if we reach consensus and agreement,' he reiterated.

A few days after the International Court of Justice voiced its verdict on Iran's request to look into the US' breach of the Mutual Treaty of Amity, the court was set up to investigate the second Iranian lawsuit, which had been filed prior to a renewed sanctions complaint.

After a few weeks of reviewing Iran's complaint against the US' August sanctions, the Hague-based International Court of Justice (ICJ) endorsed some of Iran's requests for a final vote to suspend anti-Iran sanctions on pharmaceutical, medical, and aviation sectors on October 3.

On June 15, 2016, the Islamic Republic of Iran filed a lawsuit at the ICJ on the dispute regarding the violations by the United States government of the treaty of amity, economic relations and consular rights between Iran and the United States, signed on August 15, 1955, by both parties and has been binding on June 16, 1957.
