Uzbek-Chabahar rail connection to evolve goods transportation
Chabahar, Connection between Uzbekistan and Chabahar, southeastern Iran can change goods transportation for the better and improve trade ties between the two countries, the deputy chairman of Uzbekistan Railways told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) on Wednesday.
'The rail road can play an important role in improvement of transportation and provision of goods needed in Uzbekistan and Iran,' said Fazliddin Sagdullayev.
It is necessary that the rail ways of Iran, Afghanistan, and Uzbekistan get connected to each other, he added.
'On my first visit to Chabahar, I saw the trade and transit potentials of the port, which will result in more presence and investments in the near future.'
He said that Chabahar enjoys good equipment and can load and unload about 8.5 million tons of goods that will multiply.
He said, 'Transit through Iran is cheap and safe for export and import of goods.'
'We provide a great deal of our requirements from Iran, and intend to get connected to open waters.'
Some top officials from Uzbekistan visited Chabahar Port on Tuesday.
