VIDEO Show Iraqi Convoys inside Liberated Eastern Mosul from ISIS

Convoys of Iraqi soldiers were seen passing through the eastern outskirts of Mosul on Wednesday, as the military operation to free the area from so-called Islamic State group control intensifies.

Most of the fighting in Mosul is taking place in the eastern part of the city - east of the Tigris River - where Iraqi Special Forces are slowly moving towards the center in the face of stiff Islamic State group resistance.

The progress of the Mosul campaign has generally been slow as the Iraqi forces avoid using overwhelming power against the ISIS group because of the presence inside the city of some 1 million civilians, AP reports.
