Washington blacklists CBI chief
Tehran,US administration on Tuesday blacklisted Governor of Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Valiollah Seif for the alleged financial support for Lebanese Hezbollah.
Based on a statement posted on the website of the US Department of Treasury, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has sanctioned Seif for his alleged cooperation in transferring currencies to the Lebanese Hezbollah and supporting terrorists.
The statement which branded Seif, also governor of Al-Bilad Islamic Bank, as a terrorist, came after US President Donald Trump pulled US out of the JCPOA last Tuesday.
President Rouhani said in reaction to the US move that Tehran will continue its cooperation with the remaining five countries and if it ceases to serve Iran's interests, it will take decisions accordingly.
