Zanjan to export trout to Russia, Iraq
Zanjan, Over 12,000 tons of aquatic creatures are annually produced in Zanjan Province.
Such a capacity has prompted authorities since 2015 to think of exporting trout to the Chelyabinsk region of Russia and Iraq.
Regarding special importance of non-oil product exports for hard currency earning, producers are inclined to turn to the business.
On the other hand, compared to other provinces northwest of Iran, Zanjan Province has ample water resources, ranking first in terms of producing cold-water fish.
More than 8,000 tons of trout, caught in Zanjan Province, are exported to the neighboring provinces annually and in the past years the province exported the fish to Iraq.
Russia has asked for import of 1,500 to 2,000 grams of trout from Zanjan Province.
Weekly fish yield of Zanjan Province stands at 50 tons now.
