Zarif: Iran ready for economic cooperation with Syria
Damascus, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Monday that as Iran stood with the Syrian nation and government during eight years of war, it is ready for the economic cooperation with them in post-crisis era as well.
He made the remarks in a meeting with Syrian Prime Minister Imad Khamis in Damascus on Monday.
Zarif said that Syria is achieving full victory against terrorism through cooperation of its allies and Iran, as a strategic ally, is interested to participate in reconstruction activities in Syria.
Iran's private companies have high capabilities and are fully ready to participate in reconstruction activities in post-crisis era.
He pointed to economic and military agreements between Iran and Syria, and said that the first vice-president is to visit Syria to sign a comprehensive and long-term agreement.
Referring to the international economic fair in Damascus, Zarif said Iranian businessmen will participate in the exhibition actively.
The 60th International Damascus Exhibition will kick off on September 6 and will continue until September 15.
Concerning trilateral summit meeting of presidents of Iran, Russia and Turkey in Tehran next Friday on Astana Talks process, Zarif said the current process of trilateral talks were successful and good results will be achieved soon.
The prime minister appreciated Iran's supports, and said that all possibilities for participation of our allies, including Iran and Russia for reconstruction is ready.
He welcomed Iran's private sector participation at International Damascus Exhibition.
Zarif arrived in Damascus on Monday for a one-day visit.
He is scheduled to hold talks with President Bashar al-Assad.
Senior advisor to foreign minister Hossein Jaberi Ansari is accompanying Zarif in this visit.
