Zarif says Iran to continue supporting peace, stability in Afghanistan

- Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif stressed the continuation of Iran's policy in supporting peace and stability in Afghanistan.

He made the remark in a meeting with Afghanistan’s former foreign minister Salahuddin Rabbani in Turkey on Thursday.

During the meeting, Zarif underlined the need for cooperation of all sides in Afghanistan in dealing with the unfavorable security situation in the country.

Explaining the latest situation in Afghanistan, Rabbani praised Iran's stands in helping to establish peace and security in this country.

Iran’s foreign minister also met with Afghanistan’s chief executive officer, Abdullah Abdullah during which he expressed concern over the security conditions in Afghanistan.

In the meeting Abdullah appreciated the constructive efforts of the Islamic Republic of Iran and briefed Zarif on the latest situation in Afghanistan.

Zarif left Tehran for Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF) on Thursday heading a high-ranking delegation.

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh stated that Mohammad-Javad Zarif would speak at the summit on the neighborhood doctrine of Iran and explain the Islamic Republic's policies in this regard.

He noted that on the sidelines of the summit, Zarif will meet some high-ranking officials and participating foreign ministers and would also attend a trilateral meeting of the foreign ministers of Iran, Turkey, and Afghanistan.

New opportunities for peace and cooperation in the South Caucasus, strengthening regional solidarity, regional cooperation in Asia, relations with Africa, the Middle East, and the Persian Gulf, transatlantic relations, refugees and immigrants, economic diplomacy and trade, communications, and fake news on the internet are the most important issues that will be discussed at this year's meeting of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
