Zarif: US pressures will bolster ties among countries
Ankara, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Wednesday that US pressures on some countries might leave temporary impacts but would eventually serve to bolster relations among all countries.
Speaking to reporters in Ankara, he said the Americans have proved that they see no limits on their pressures to get concessions and even their allies never feel safe.
'The Turkish government and president have significantly resisted US pressures and now our friends in Turkey along with US allies in Europe have come to the conclusion that the US is no longer a reliable partner,' Zarif said.
The US behavior indicated that countries should think twice about the future of their relations with the US, Zarif said.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has always called for expansion of economic relations with its neighbors apart from pressures which might be exerted by others, he said.
Iran regards Turkey as its good economic partner and is determined to continue its cooperation and negotiations at bilateral, trilateral and multilateral levels with the country, he said.
He said the aim of his visit to Turkey was to explore ways of expanding bilateral cooperation.
During his stay, Zarif conferred with the Turkish president and foreign minister on issues of mutual interests and invited them to attend a trilateral meeting on Syria to be held in Tehran.
