Zarif: US should answer for economic terrorism
Tehran, Iranian foreign minister in a message revealed lies promoted by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo with regard helping Iranian floodstricken people, saying the US should be accountable for its economic terrorism.
'FAKE NEWS: @SecPompeo claim that US 'ready to assist @ifrc, which would direct money through Iranian Red Crescent for relief,' Mohammad Javad Zarif tweeted on Tuesday night.
'REAL NEWS: As @ICRC President noted, Iranian Red Crescent can't receive any funds due to illegal US sanctions. US should own up to its ECONOMIC TERRORISM,' he added.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi said the US has blocked Red Crescent's accounts and hampered issuing humanitarian aids from other countries to Iranian floodstricken people.
He added that the US act which happened on the occasion of the anniversary of its withdrawal from Iran nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is an indication of US officials' antipopular approach which is in contrast with their ridiculous slogans and claims saying sanctions are not against the Iranian people, but in favor of them.
Normally, all banking systems will not be blocked even in difficult and emergency conditions and sending humanitarian aids will be possible through International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Qasemi said, adding that the US in an inhumane and cruel approach has blocked all humanitarian assistance to floodhit people.
Meanwhile earlier Zarif himself said in a message @realDonaldTrump 's 'maximum pressure'flouting UNSC Res 2231 & ICJ rulingis impeding aid efforts by #IranianRedCrescent to all communities devastated by unprecedented floods. Blocked equipment includes relief choppers.
Unprecedented heavy rains caused floods in various parts of Iran over the past two weeks. Scores of people were killed and injured and a large number were displaced across Iran.
