Iran, Japan call for exchanging experiences of OANA members

Tehran, IRNA – Director General of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) Ali Naderi and Toshimitsu Sawai from Kyodo News of Japan in a meeting on Tuesday stressed exchanging experiences between IRNA and Kyodo.

Naderi made the remarks in a meeting with Toshimitsu Sawai from Kyodo News of Japan on the sidelines of the 18th General Assembly of the OANA on Tuesday.

IRNA managing director said that the media are the center of information and awareness-raising tools for public opinion, but the Western media system seeks to distort the facts.

Terming the strategic cooperation of independent media as the strongest factor in confronting the Western media system, Naderi considered OANA as a platform for the formation of this cooperation, he added.

Describing Kyodo news agency as a successful media outlet, he underlined that IRNA considers Kyodo an important and effective News Agency and IRNA is interested in increasing cooperation with it.

He emphasized on upgrading and updating the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between IRNA and Kyodo.

Toshimitsu Sawai, for his part, thanked IRNA for hosting the 18th General Assembly of the OANA in Tehran and described the meeting as a turning point in the activities of Asia-Pacific news agencies during the Post-COVID era.

Pointing to the deep-rooted relations between Iran and Japan, he voiced Kyodo’s readiness to expand its cooperation with IRNA.

The 18th Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies General Assembly started on Monday in Tehran and the closing ceremony of the meeting was held on Tuesday afternoon.
