Dhi Qar Provincial Council confirmed, today, Monday that 10 areas in the governorate have entered the red circle, indicating that the situation in these areas is very difficult. Dhi Qar Provincial Council stated that "the water file in the southern Dhi Qar areas is worrisome, especially with the decline in water supplies at high levels, especially in the areas of Sayed Dakhil district and its villages, reaching Al-Dawaya, Al-Fuhoud, Al-Islah, Al-Jabaish, Al-Manar and Souq Al-Shuyukh, and that the scarcity of water has caused the death of livestock and fish, and agriculture, and the rate of migration from rural areas has increased by up to 25%, and 8-10 areas have actually entered the red circle, i.e. the stage of (actual danger)." The Council explained that "the situation is difficult and the water crisis is worsening with its harsh consequences on agricultural areas, and we are awaiting solutions from the Ministry of Water Resources concerned with the water file." The scarcity of water has affected the na ture of life of the population and tribes that depend mainly on agriculture and husbandry in southern Iraq in general and Dhi Qar in particular, as any disruption in the dates of planting local crops leads to an economic disaster that affects their lives, which is what happened during the planting season this year and the year before.
