Herat: Around 10,000 Afghan refugees are leaving Iran daily to return to their homeland amid war and insecurity in the Mideast country, local media outlet Tolonews reported last night.
According to Nam News Network, the return of refugees from Iran has increased significantly due to escalating conflict. Abdul Rahim Rahmani, deputy director of Border Affairs for Returnees and Refugees at the Islam Qala crossing point, noted that between 8,000 and 10,000 individuals are crossing back into Afghanistan daily through the Islam Qala crossing in western Herat province.
In addition to the crossings at Herat, local officials report that thousands more Afghan refugees, estimated between 2,000 and 3,000 individuals along with approximately 300 families, are returning via Nimroz province. This surge in returnees highlights the growing instability and challenges faced by Afghan refugees in Iran.
