The 12th session of the Gulf Municipal Works Conference will kick off in Riyadh on Sunday under the theme "Sustainable Municipal Work: Aspirations and Challenges," under the patronage of Minister of Municipalities and Housing Majed Al-Hogail, with participation from numerous officials and specialists concerned with municipal affairs in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. During the two-day conference, the Kingdom will showcase its efforts to develop municipal work and enhance the quality of municipal services, as well as the various developmental projects in the sector that have contributed to improving municipal services and enhancing the quality of life in Saudi cities. The Kingdom will also highlight pioneering initiatives and programs in urban management and operation, promote sustainable urban development, and emphasize promising investment opportunities in the municipal sector. The conference, which runs until October 8, will feature 15 panel sessions and workshops discussing the latest theoreti cal and practical developments related to the advancement and sustainability of municipal work in the Gulf region. It will also address current challenges in developing the municipal services system and supporting it with the latest practices that ensure quality and sustainability. Additionally, the conference will explore ways to enhance partnership, cooperation, and the exchange of expertise and knowledge among GCC member states, and it will showcase best practices in urban management, municipal services, modern technologies, and smart solutions to improve urban infrastructure. Winners of the Gulf Cooperation Council Municipal Work Award for its 5th edition (2023/2024) will be honored during the event, which will also feature an exhibition showcasing the latest innovations, solutions, tools, and successful practices that support the achievement of sustainable goals in municipal work.
