Tehran: The 40th International Islamic Unity Conference has opened in the Iranian capital, Tehran, with the participation of President Masoud Pezeshkian and around 600 Iranian and foreign guests from 40 countries.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the conference is organized under the theme 'Islamic Unity in the Thought of the Martyred Imam.' It began on Thursday and includes scholars and thinkers from countries such as Iraq, Pakistan, Turkey, Lebanon, Afghanistan, and the Persian Gulf states.

The conference will continue through August 30 in Tehran, as well as in the holy cities of Qom and Mashhad. Specialized sessions are also scheduled in the provinces of West Azarbaijan, Kurdistan, Golestan, and Razavi Khorasan. Additionally, a series of webinars commenced earlier this week.

The event aims to promote Islamic unity, peace, security, and the strength of the Muslim community, grounded in the teachings of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. Discussions will also address issues such as Islamic identity, governance, economic cooperation, contemporary developments, and the Palestinian and Lebanese causes.
