Tehran: The 42nd Tehran International Short Film Festival (TISFF) has commenced at the Iran Mall Cinema Complex, showcasing the theme of Rationality and Intellectualism.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the jury panel for the International Competition includes Saeid Ebrahimifar, Thom Palmen, Mirona Radu, Damien Kocur, and Joe Chang. These jurors will assess the selected films across categories such as fiction, animation, documentary, and experimental.
This year, the festival will pay tribute to filmmaker and educator Arash Rassafi for his 35 years of contributions to Iranian short cinema. In support of the audience attending the event, a comprehensive 290-page film catalog has been published.
The TISFF, organized annually by the Iranian Youth Cinema Society (IYCS) for the past 41 years, is acknowledged as a premier institution for cinema and short film production both in Iran and on a global scale. The festival’s official recognition by the Academy Awards (Oscars) enables the Grand Prize winner to be eligible for Oscar consideration.
The 42nd edition of the TISFF, under the direction of Behrooz Shoaibi, is scheduled to run from October 19 to 24, 2025.
