AEOI Chief Inaugurates Nuclear Technology Project in Isfahan

Isfahan: Iranian Vice-president Mohammad Eslami has launched the production line of Iridium hexafluoride (IrF6), a key material widely used for medical purposes and in oil and gas industries. Eslami, who also serves as the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), inaugurated the production line at Isfahan's Shahid Raeisi Nuclear Site.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, with the inauguration of this project, Iran has achieved self-sufficiency in producing IrF6, joining a select group of countries with this technology. Iridium hexafluoride is utilized in brachytherapy, a form of radiation treatment administered directly into the human body. It is also employed in low-dose medical radiography and the production of IR192 for the oil and gas industries, among other applications.

Eslami is scheduled to travel to Yazd Province on Sunday, where he will inaugurate additional nuclear technology projects on the eve of the 46th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
