Baghdad, Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani called on the members who won the Kirkuk Provincial Council membership to hold the first session next Thursday. Al-Sudani said in a statement that: "After the federal government succeeded in organizing the local elections for the governorates, including Kirkuk Governorate, which has not held these elections since 2005, political dialogues were held under our auspices, and for more than one round, among the forces that won the provincial council seats, and others through a committee formed for this purpose, and the dialogues resulted in an agreement to form a Kirkuk administration coalition to include the winning forces, and also resulted in a paper for the political agreement that included the basic principles, a political axis and another administrative axis, in addition to the cultural and economic." He added: "In the context of implementing what was agreed upon in the last dialogue session, we call on the members who won membership in the Kirkuk Provincial Council to hold the first session of the Council, headed by the oldest member, next Thursday, July 11, 2024, at exactly one o'clock in the afternoon in the Provincial Council building." He also called on the concerned political forces to cooperate in completing the implementation of what was agreed upon in the political dialogues, and to complete these dialogues in the coming days.
