Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani issued new directives regarding the Development Road Project. A statement by his media office said that Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani chaired today, Monday, the periodic meeting of the Supreme Committee for the Development Road Project. During the meeting, according to the statement, the project's developments and the progress of its work stages were reviewed, and the work of the committees emanating from it regarding energy, gas, electricity and internet projects, which represent an essential part of this major strategic project, was followed up, as he was briefed on the achievement rates achieved in the designs of a number of special projects and those attached to the project, including the initial designs for the railway, which reached 100% completion, and the designs for the highway, which were completed by 75%. The Prime Minister directed the entity designing the Development Road project to prepare a schedule for expropriations along the project path, an d to determine the approximate cost of those expropriations (government and private), with an approximate timetable for the expropriations according to the project implementation stages. His Excellency also issued a directive to the Personal Secretary of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces to coordinate with the Ministries of Defense and Interior regarding preparing the vision for securing the entire path of the Development Road project. During the meeting, November 1, 2024 was set as the date for the second meeting of the Quadripartite Committee for the Development Road in Baghdad, consisting of Iraq, Qatar, the Emirates and Turkey, as well as forming a committee from the ministries to develop the future vision for each ministry towards the Development Road project, and forming a committee to prepare a comprehensive study on energy investment along the project path, including the Ministries of Electricity, Oil, Communications and Transport, and to work through coordination with the project's consulta nt designer, in addition to indicating the World Bank's welcome to the government's initiative to include the project in the Ministry of Planning.
