Alternative Financial Channels Can Boost Exports: Iranian Official

Tehran: Chairman of the Iran-Vietnam Joint Chamber of Commerce Mostafa Mousavi has said alternative financial mechanisms, including barter trade, can help boost exports and facilitate the return of export revenues amid restrictions on financial transfers.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Mousavi highlighted the potential to develop direct trade between Iran and Vietnam if political and economic conditions improve, as stated in a press release by Iran's Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday. He emphasized the need to pursue alternative mechanisms when direct transfers of export earnings are challenging, suggesting the use of exported goods to secure necessary imports and maintain trade flows.

Mousavi also noted that sanctions and transportation challenges have complicated Iran's trade with Southeast Asian countries. He stated that stronger trade ties with the region would require more stable foreign relations, reliable financial channels, and improved transport infrastructure, which would create better conditions for Iran to expand its economic engagement with Southeast Asia.
