Baghdad: Iran's Ambassador to Baghdad, Mohammad Kazem Ale-Sadeq, has disclosed that the United States is conducting reconnaissance flights using Iraqi airspace to surveil Iranian territory. Ale-Sadeq made these statements in an interview with Iraqi media, where he also warned about the United States' support for Israeli flights in the region, which he stated poses a significant threat. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, the Iranian ambassador emphasized Iran's preparedness to retaliate against any hostile activities while maintaining respect for Iraq's sovereignty and its governmental decisions. He highlighted the importance of regional collaboration to secure airspace and ensure territorial integrity, specifically addressing the issue of US espionage activities over Iraq. Ale-Sadeq also stressed the necessity for local management of security in the Persian Gulf, warning against dependency on foreign military presence. He noted, "Security is a completely internal and regional issue. We hope that cou ntries in the region, including Iraq, will prioritize regional dialogue rather than allowing foreign surveillance and intervention." Additionally, the Iranian diplomat promoted regional dialogue over external surveillance, advocating for Iran's '6+2' initiative as a framework for achieving security without foreign involvement. He further asserted Tehran's capacity to defend itself and deter threats without the need for nuclear weapons, citing Iran's missile capabilities as a sufficient deterrent. In his remarks, Ale-Sadeq also addressed allegations regarding Iran's nuclear ambitions, dismissing them as "lies and fabrications" used by external powers to exert pressure on Tehran.
