Araghchi Arrives in Muscat to Discuss Developments in Strait of Hormuz

Muscat: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, leading a diplomatic delegation, has arrived in Muscat to review the latest developments in the Strait of Hormuz and discuss bilateral relations. Araghchi was welcomed by Omani officials upon his arrival in the capital of Oman, where talks are set to focus on the strategic waterway and regional affairs.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei explained that Araghchi's visit is part of ongoing consultations between Iran and Oman over the Strait of Hormuz. These discussions have been ongoing for several months, emphasizing Iran's commitment to maintaining routine arrangements and maritime services for shipping in the region. This commitment was established under a Pakistan-brokered Memorandum of Understanding aimed at ending regional conflicts.

Iran's technical team, led by Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi, had previously convened in Doha to further discussions on the Islamabad MoU. These discussions included trilateral negotiations with Qatari and Pakistani facilitators, highlighting the collaborative international efforts in the region.

Simultaneously, an American delegation, led by President Donald Trump's envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, was also present in Doha. They held meetings with top Qatari officials, including Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, to discuss related regional issues.
