Accra:Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has responded critically to recent comments made by French President Emmanuel Macron, who attributed the unrest in France to the US war on Iran.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi mocked Macron, stating it is "too late" to blame the war for the chaos. He emphasized that the French public is calling for significant changes, including freedom of assembly. Araghchi's comments were made on his X account, referencing Macron's concerns about the ongoing violent protests in France, which the French president linked to the US-led conflict with Iran.
Araghchi further criticized Macron by recalling his past support for US President Donald Trump's actions against Iran. He urged Macron to heed the calls for change within France.
The unrest in France reached a peak on Saturday with severe violence, initially sparked by issues related to education and school conditions, but later expanding to include broader concerns about the cost of living and other domestic matters. Macron condemned the rioting, labeling the protesters as trying to undermine the republic and vowed that those responsible would face consequences.
