Tehran: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) should be aware of the new conditions for cooperation that have been established with Iran. Araghchi emphasized that these changes stem from both recent parliamentary laws and the evolving circumstances on the ground, following attacks on several of Iran’s nuclear facilities.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi explained in a televised program titled ‘Tehran, Iran and World’ that future cooperation with the IAEA will require the approval of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council. He criticized the IAEA’s performance, particularly highlighting a report that led to a resolution by the Board of Governors, which he described as unfavorable to Tehran.

Araghchi accused the IAEA of failing in its responsibility to protect Iran’s nuclear facilities, which were attacked despite being under the agency’s supervision and regular inspection. He stressed the necessity of establishing a new framework for cooperation with the IAEA, as the previous arrangements are no longer viable.

Additionally, Araghchi disclosed that Iran has invited the IAEA deputy director general to Tehran, but specified that the visit would not include inspections of nuclear facilities. Instead, discussions will center on enhancing bilateral cooperation concerning Iran’s peaceful nuclear program.

Addressing the potential for new negotiations with the United States, Araghchi noted that no definitive decision has been made, though messages have been exchanged. He asserted that Iran will not enter negotiations to achieve what the US failed to accomplish through military means.

Araghchi also addressed the threat from Britain, France, and Germany to invoke the snapback mechanism, warning that such actions would complicate negotiations. He reiterated that the Islamic Republic remains steadfast in protecting the rights of the Iranian people.
