Isfahan: Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has highlighted a strategic shift by Iran's adversaries from military actions to economic warfare, aiming to disrupt the livelihoods of ordinary Iranians. Araghchi articulated this stance during a ceremony in Isfahan, pointing out the failure of military efforts to weaken Iran's resolve. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi discussed how, upon realizing the resilience of the Iranian populace, the adversaries have resorted to economic sanctions and pressure. 'In my view, once the enemies realized that the Iranian people are standing firm, they have now targeted the people's livelihoods,' he noted. The foreign minister emphasized that these adversaries are attempting to accomplish through economic means what they could not achieve through military confrontations. Araghchi referenced the early stages of the Israeli-American conflict against Iran in June, where despite the aggression, Iran's steadfastness prompted calls for negotiation. 'In the early days of the 12-day war, they were sending messages saying, 'Let's negotiate so we can end the war,'' he recounted. The foreign minister also observed a notable change in the United States' approach during the conflict, particularly in the tone of the US president's communications on social media. 'During the 12-day war, the US president's posts on X (former Twitter) shifted from demanding unconditional surrender to calling for a ceasefire,' he stated. Under the leadership of Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Iran chose resistance as its response to the aggression, Araghchi explained. He recounted that by the twelfth day, negotiations led to a message from the United States indicating a halt to operations by the Zionist regime. 'With the wisdom of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, we chose resistance,' he confirmed. Araghchi underscored that the concept of resistance is the foundation of Iran's Islamic Revolution, a principle inherited from Ayatollah Khomeini and sustained by Ayatollah Khamenei. 'The most important line of thought featured in the Islamic Revolution is the discourse of resistance,' he asserted, attributing Iran's successes amidst crises to this unwavering stance. He concluded by reiterating that resistance is the enduring essence of the Iranian people. 'The secret of the Revolution's victory and the secret of the Iranian people's victories has always been, and remains, resistance,' Araghchi remarked, highlighting its crucial role in maintaining the nation's principles and dignity.
