Araghchi Warns Trump of Strategic Defeat Over Iran Conflict

Tehran:Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has issued a stark warning to U.S. President Donald Trump, stating that Trump's misconceptions about Iran's military capabilities and the nation itself will lead to significant financial losses for the American population and result in a severe strategic defeat for the United States.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araghchi, in an exclusive op-ed for The Financial Times, highlighted Iran's diplomatic and defensive strategies against what he described as illegal wars initiated by the U.S. and Israel. He criticized the White House for failing to recognize the mounting financial burden of the war on average Americans, referencing Moody's data that estimated the aggression has cost U.S. consumers $265 billion this year.

Araghchi recounted his discussions with international counterparts at the UN General Assembly, noting a unanimous sentiment that Iran desires a fair and honorable agreement with the United States. He emphasized Iran's commitment to a peaceful resolution while defending its sovereignty against what he described as Trump's erroneous assumptions about Iran's resilience.

Further, Araghchi questioned the trustworthiness of the U.S., citing past incidents of bombing during negotiations and expressing skepticism about the sincerity of the U.S. administration's peace intentions. He also pointed out the lack of U.S. action on Iran's '7-Day Plan' for ending the conflict and reopening the Strait of Hormuz.

In concluding his op-ed, Araghchi reiterated Iran's readiness to pursue diplomacy if the U.S. shows genuine interest in achieving a lasting and honorable peace.
