Araqchi Says S.C.O. to Soon Move Beyond Regional Framework

Tianjin: Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has stated that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (S.C.O.) is steadily broadening its global influence and gradually moving beyond its regional framework. Speaking to reporters upon his arrival in China, Araqchi highlighted the purpose of his visit, which is to attend the 25th meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the S.C.O. This significant meeting is scheduled to be held on Wednesday in Tianjin, located in eastern China.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araqchi emphasized that the S.C.O. is transitioning from a regional platform to a comprehensive international organization with an expanding agenda across multiple issues. This shift signifies the organization’s growing global influence. The minister mentioned that the development strategy of the S.C.O. and its member countries in fields such as energy and commerce, among other areas, will be finalized, and international issues will be discussed during the meeting.

Araqchi also noted that he would engage in bilateral meetings with his Chinese and Russian counterparts on the sidelines of the event. In his remarks, he referred to the aggression by the Israeli regime and the U.S. against Iran, stating that almost all international and regional organizations, along with more than five countries, condemned the actions and expressed solidarity with the Islamic Republic of Iran. He appreciated the S.C.O.’s statement against the recent attacks by the Israeli regime and the U.S. against Iran.
