Brussels: Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has emphasized that reaching an agreement with Iran necessitates steering clear of unrealistic and illogical positions. Araqchi conveyed these sentiments during a phone conversation with Kaja Kallas, the EU high representative for foreign and security policy, on Monday. According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Araqchi updated Kallas on the latest developments concerning the indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States. He expressed Tehran's readiness to engage in discussions with major European powers to alleviate their concerns about the potential for Iran to develop nuclear weapons. Araqchi reiterated Iran's willingness to maintain interactions with European parties, whether through the European Union or the three key European countries involved. He expressed optimism that Iran and these nations could resume talks based on a constructive approach devoid of political spite. The senior Iranian negotiator highlighted Iran's responsible approach to di plomacy, aiming to address what he termed as artificial concerns regarding its peaceful nuclear program. He stressed the importance of pursuing this path with serious intent and realism. If the primary concern is the potential for Iran to acquire nuclear weapons, Araqchi noted, this issue could be addressed. He concluded by asserting that an agreement is achievable, provided that parties involved avoid unrealistic and irrational positions.
