Tehran: The chief commander of the Army has declared that Iran must bolster its military power to ensure national security and maintain its independence in the face of escalating regional and global threats.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Major General Amir Hatami, speaking at a ceremony on Wednesday, underscored the Iranian Army’s critical role in defending the nation’s independence, territorial integrity, and the governance system of the Islamic Republic. He stressed the importance of this mission, citing Iran’s strategic and geopolitical significance.

Hatami remarked on the challenges posed by an “occupying regime” in the region, hinting at Israel, whose doctrine, he claimed, is to prevent any neighboring country from surpassing its strength. He also alluded to global powers advocating for “peace through strength,” which he interpreted as a call for unconditional submission. This was in reference to recent statements by US President Donald Trump, justifying his aggressive stance towards Iran.

In light of these challenges, Hatami asserted that Iran has no choice but to fortify its military capabilities, emphasizing the necessity of becoming stronger to counteract these threats.
