Tehran: The Deputy Commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran's Navy, Rear Admiral Faramarz Bemani, asserts that the recent attack on the Dena destroyer is indicative of the enemy's apprehension regarding Iran's expanding naval capabilities and its growing influence on the international stage.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Bemani remarked at the 27th basic combat training course for national elites, held at Army Ground Forces Martyrs Training Center in Tehran, that the targeting of the Dena destroyer underscores the enemy's fear of Iran's naval prowess. He emphasized that the destroyer symbolizes indigenous capability, self-belief, and the determination of the Iranian people.
Bemani highlighted the achievements of the Dena destroyer and the port vessel Makran, which successfully circumnavigated the globe, showcasing the naval strength of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Despite facing international sanctions, these vessels conveyed Iran's message of peace, capability, and independence to the global community. He described the mission of Naval Fleet 86 as a significant source of pride for Iran.
He further noted that the enemies tend to target the strengths of the Islamic Republic, and the attack on the Dena destroyer is a clear indication of their apprehension about Iran's maritime power and its accomplishments on the international front.
Bemani also underscored the vital role of the youth in achieving the goals of the Revolution, highlighting their central contribution. He elaborated on the Navy's history, tracing its roots from ancient Iranian seafaring traditions to its present responsibilities, which include safeguarding territorial waters, the Sea of Oman, the Indian Ocean, and the Caspian Sea in coordination with the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Navy.
Reflecting on the past, he mentioned that during the initial 67 days of the eight-year imposed war, the Army Navy significantly diminished the naval capacity of the Iraqi Ba'athist regime and continued to escort numerous commercial vessels and oil tankers, ensuring economic stability.
Bemani proudly stated that Iran is now among a select group of nations capable of independently designing and building destroyers, missiles, drones, and advanced naval equipment, thanks to the efforts of domestic specialists, universities, and knowledge-based companies.
In his closing remarks, Bemani invited the nation's elites to contribute to the Navy's scientific and defense development initiatives. "The future of Iran will be built by elite youth, and the Army Navy welcomes their scientific and research capacity for developing new technologies and strengthening the country's defense capabilities," he stated.
The Navy's participation in the Armed Forces Achievements Exhibition for conscript elites included 14 booths showcasing research projects and technologies such as electronic warfare systems, phased-array radars, radar-evading composite equipment, drone and quadcopter systems, training simulators, and water purification equipment.
