Azerbaijan Condemns Israeli Aggression Against Iran

Baku: Azerbaijan’s foreign policy advisor to the president, Hikmat Hajiyev, has publicly condemned Israel’s recent military actions against Iran. Hajiyev expressed his disapproval during a phone conversation with the deputy secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council for foreign policy affairs, where he denounced the aggression that resulted in significant loss of life, including senior commanders and scientists. In expressing condolences, he underscored Azerbaijan’s stance against the violence.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Hajiyev and the Iranian official reaffirmed their dedication to enhancing bilateral relations and speeding up the implementation of agreements previously established between their presidents. The conversation came in the wake of remarks from the Israeli ambassador to Azerbaijan, George Dick, who suggested that Iran had been weakened following the conflict and claimed that global safety, including in the Middle East and South Caucasus, had improved as a result.

The Iranian embassy in Baku promptly criticized the statements made by the Israeli envoy, asserting that Israel’s actions and expansionist policies are the primary sources of instability in West Asia. Behnam Malekpour, the press secretary of the Iranian embassy, emphasized that Israel poses a significant threat to global peace and warned that inaction from the international community could exacerbate global insecurity.

The conflict began when Israel launched its military campaign against Iran on June 13, which led to a strong retaliatory response from Iran’s military forces.
